I have a 3-month old DirecTV HD Tivo unit, which I operate remotely through an infrared eye in my home theater. On several occasions, the unit spontaneously deletes all recorded programs in the "now playing" list, including those that I have set as "keep until I delete." The unit has ample unused space available when this happens. Neither the season pass manager nor to the To Do list is affected. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? Is the problem fixable, or do I need to replace the unit? I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Can you look at Recording History to see a reason why any of these is deleted?

Maybe you have some other remote control or IR-emitting device that is sending the codes for deletion?

Are you sure the items are actually "deleted" versus "just not being displayed"? If the NP List is empty, there is supposed to be text describing that this is where recorded programs are available for playback. Are you experiencing a blank screen that is completely devoid of text? If so, have you tried restarting to see if the shows become visible again?

The recording history says that "someone in your household deleted this program on 3/26 at 3:01 pm." But no one deliberately deleted any of the programs. As hitbyatrain suggests, perhaps an IR-emitting device is somehow sending delete codes, but doesn't it seem odd that the device could spontaneously send just the right codes to call up the "now playing" list and then delete each program in turn?

Any small children in the house?

In response to TiVoJerry, it appears that the entire list of programs was deleted at around 3 pm yesterday. When I turned on the unit at 7:30 last night, the only programs showing were those recorded after 3 pm. And as noted in my immediately prior post, the recording history does show the programs as deleted.

No small children in the house, though we certainly wish we had some grandchildren running around.
