Deleted files folder? Is this taking up much space on my tivo hardrive?

I just got the tivo update that give me the deleted files folder. Does this mean that all the shows I've deleted are still taking up the space on my Hard drive? Is there a way to delete whats in the deleted files folder?

Yes, it is taking up space....but that space will be available for suggestions or any other recordings as needed.

There is absolutely no reason to delete the items in that folder. (You can do so, one by one. They will still take up space like they did before...you just won't see them any longer.)

Nothing has changed with how deleted shows are handled. The only difference is you have the ability to see they are there and to recover them if you deleted by accident.

Think of the drive less as a file cabinet than can be filled with papers and more like a gigantic stack of etch-a-sketch boards that are organized with alphabetically with little nametags. Rather than going to the trouble of erasing one board when you're done with it, you just throw out it's nametag and set it in the "clean" stack. Then when you need a clean board, you grab a previously used one, shake it and go. Now imagine that someone took your stack of previously used boards and found all the old labels for them. You can still shake & reuse them, but you can also find that one board with the Alias episode that you accidentally un-named before your wife could watch it. Now go buy the guy who re-named that etch-a-sketch a steak, because he just saved your behind.

ok i gotcha. The only thing different is that I can now se the files I have deleted. Before this update they were always still on the harddrive, but were just written over wehn space was needed. Thanks guys

They still are, the Deleted folder jsuts give you access to them before they are re-written.
