My wireless connection from upstairs router to downstairs TiVo is too flakey to be reliable. The hardware so far is all TiVo approved. I am considering a wireless repeater/extender to install half-way between the two. My question is does the make/model number of this gizmo matter as far as TiVo compatability is concerned? My guess is no, but figure some of you out have way more knowledge on this subject than I do.

No, it wouldn't matter.

Most repeaters will substantially slow down transmission rates. That's not a problem unless you want to watch a show streaming from another Tivo. You may have to start it a while in advance of when you want to watch it.

Changing your router's antenna(s) or even reorienting it may help more than a repeater.

Just picked up an Airlink 802.11g Wireless Repeater at Fry's for $19.99 and it seems to be doing it's job. The blue light on my Dlink USB adapter is now on solid instead of blinking and the IP and MAC addresses are showing up. I can now access the programs with TiVo Desktop so this guy is apparently doing his job! Signal strength is still not great but this was a cheap improvement.
