Gah!!!! I've changed nothing in my setup or anything, but all of a sudden, the Food Network channel has very, very low volume to the point that I need to put the volume of my TV all the way to the top just to have lower then normal listening levels. This problem is only affecting the Food Network, both live and recordings. When I switch over to a direct cable to TV connection, bypassing the TiVo, it is normal.

And it's only the one channel. :( Any suggestions? Please?

Doesn't sound possible for the TiVo to do that.

If the TiVo passes thru all the other cable channels audio just fine there's no way it would just up and decide to make the food network volume really low.

*laugh* Doesn't sound possible, but it did it. Fortunately, today, it seems to have corrected itself. I don't know what the issue was, but it seems better now.

Well, that is certainly insulting, Stanley. I can't imagine why I'd waste my time making up stories to tell this forum. And even if I was entirely horrible at dealing with technology (I'm not), I could certainly tell when there was a problem with the volume of a channel.

I split my cable, and run one end into the TiVo box and one end directly into my TV, so I can watch live TV while recording something. Everything was working fine, when I woke up one morning, tried watching a recording from the Food Network, and found that the volume was so low that I had to crank it to the max to hear anything at all. I flipped over to the Food Network, live through my TiVo, and found the same. I listened through the other channels, live through TiVo, and they were all normal. I flipped over to live TV directly from TV to cable, and the Food Network, as with all the other channels, were all fine. Only one channel was affected, and only when going through the TiVo.

It resolved itself on its own 2 days later.

This is the behavior that I personally observed. Are you calling me stupid or a liar? Do you have any other explanations?

We gave our son and his family an old TIVO about a year and a half ago. It's probably about 5 years old and being used with a Directv receiver.
He's told me he's had the same problem lately. Occasionally the sound on a channel is so low, the volume on the TV has to be cranked up all the way in order to hear it.
I told him to keep a record of when it happens, to see if it's a certain channel or what. I believe The Food Channel is one of the channels they watch.

I also had this problem on Comedy central channel on several of my TiVos but not all of them. The problem went away after a week or so but I have a few bad recordings left.
