Just got the Tivo adaptor. I've noticed the signal strength flux between 100% and the high 70's.
I've never noticed this much flux, this ofen on any other wireless device in the past. And the adaptor is only a few feet rrom the router!
Any ideas why this is happening to the Tivo connection but not others? And yes, I've tried moving the adaptor around.

Did you recently receive the latest service update? My signal strength seemed to decrease a bit after I received it.

Yes. It didn't work right at all until I did. This is my new unit that I got the same day.
My old unit is disconnected at the moment but I don't think it had the problem as bad (I got it working on that first) and didn't have the software upgrade yet, or at least I hadn't done a restart since it possibly had downloaded.

My model 240 tivo also fluctuates with the tivo adapter, only between the low 30's and mid 60's. I can sit there and watch (and not move a muscle) and see it fluctuate every few seconds. DURING TRANSFERS, though, it seems to hold more steady at the higher numbers with less fluctuation.

I'm thinking about sending mine back. I have a Netgear router and a Dell built in wireless laptop, plus a Dell Axium.
This is causing a security PITA.
Netgear options are:
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
laptop can use:
shared
802.1x
WPA
cckm
WPA-PSK
So no WAP

So the Dell adapter doesn't have WEP capability? Granted it's not the greatest, but if you're in a place where you need some level of encryption....
