View Full Version : New Router Problems

I have searched around and see some input on this, but not enough to get me going.
My old router (dhcp) had my 3 tivo boxes assigned IP numbers of 192.168.123.XXX. My new router through dhcp is assigning numbers in the 192.168.0.XXX range.

I can't connect to the tivos with telnet or ftp anymore obviously.
What would be the best way to approach this problem? How can I change the IP address of the Tivo if I ever get connected again?

The old router was kind of dying, but I thought maybe I could connect it to the new network and then run the 3 tivos off of the old router long enough to make a change. I am not sure what to change though.

I have an IP scanner program that does not show them in the new range.

I would appreciate any info anyone might have.
Thanks

Why not just change the IP of the router to what the old one was - then you should be back to where you wer.

That would be a good idea if I hadn't went and changed everything else to the new range. 2 access points, a bugger of a network printer Pc's etc. Also, aren't the IP settings held in the old router? I never set my Tivo's to a static IP. Since the Tivo's were set dynamically, where are they in IP land now?

Are there any other ideas?

I see in the new router where you could set the IP range dynamically, but what about the router itself, would it change into the new range?

Well if the Tivos are the only thing that you can't see on the "new network", have you rebooted them? Once they reboot they should get a new IP address from the new router.

I did reboot them and they did not show up in the new router table.

I took your original advice and changed the router back to it's original IP set.
That did the trick.
Thanks for your help
