I am trying to figure out how to get my DirectTV TiVo to record with closed captioning enabled. I have it selected 'on' on my TV set, but not sure how to get it to work with the TiVo playback. I can't seem to find anything in the TiVo setup menu. If it matters I have a DVR R10 series 2. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. You don't have to do anything on the R10, only the HR10-250 requires a menu selection to be set.

BTW, there are a lot of programs that do not have CC and sometimes the braodcaster screws up and doesn't broadcast it. Check the program information for CC, to indentify CC enabled programs.

If the channel you're recording with the R10 DVR has CC text, then the it will be recorded. It's up to your TV to display it, so be sure that your CC display is enabled on the TV.

I can tell you how CC works on my set up so YMMV.

I have a DirecTIVO with my Proscan 35" CRT. Originally I had my s-video only hooked up to my Proscan, with this configuration I did not get any CC signal.

To make a long story short, what I ended up doing was also hooking up the composite (RCA) video signal into my Proscan input along with the s-video signal to get the CC content.

Apparently, at least with my setup, the CC signal is carried over the composite (RCA) signal and not the s-video signal. So if you only have your s-video signal hooked up and not also the composite signal then try both at the same time.

I would type out the long story version but it is a bit late and I am tired :o.

I hope this helps.
