I'm a brand new Tivo user, so please bear with me. :) I've been using a Replay and MCE for years so I am just trying to get familiar with the Tivo features.

I just hooked up my antenna cable to the HR10 and scanned for OTA channels. The great thing is that I get a ton of them (about 15) in my area. Now I don't get any of the locals in HD from my regular DirecTV programming, so I want to record off of the OTA channels to get my weekly shows recorded in HD.

The question I have is this, let's use the show 24 for example, so if I want to setup a Season Pass for 24, it will show me all of the other FOX stations that show 24 except for my OTA channel (in this case 29-1). Now if I scroll to Monday Night on the guide listing for 29-1, 24 is listed there and I can record it, but my concern is that if I set a Season Pass recording for this, how do I set it so it only records the show on that OTA channel (29-1)?

Thanks for your assistance.

With TiVo, Season Passes are specific to a channel name. Assuming there aren't any other channels with the same name (eg. WXYZ-DT), then it will record only that one.

Steve,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Just a quick follow up, because I am a little confused. So I have confirmed that there is no other channel name with the same name. I have set 24 to record on Monday night using a Season Pass, but when I check the Season Pass Manager and the To Do List, the planned recording isn't listed. If I select the Upcoming Epsodes it shows me all other channels it could record on but not my OTA channel. If I check the To Do List, it doesn't list any recording for Monday Night.

Am I doing something wrong? I don't want it to record the episode on the SD channel.

Thanks again.

Try going into setup then channels and unchecking all the Fox channels that you don't want to record 24 on.

I did this with my HR10-250 so it wouldn't show all the SD channels, that way I would only be recording HD on this particular box, since I have two other Tivo's that I record SD channels on.

Thanks everyone, that seemed to do the trick. After removing the duplicate channels, I was good to go.

Out of curiosity, is there a quick one button way to get to the To Do List?

Two buttons. Press DirecTV then 2.

Thanks again Steve, I've got a lot of things to learn.

You may find the book "TiVo For Dummies" useful. It has a lot of tips that help you get the most out of a TiVo. In fact, I referred to it to answer your question (since I didn't remember it offhand.) I was the technical editor for the book, which I found a pleasant surprise in how much helpful information it provided in an accessible manner.
