Does the HD Directivo need to make a daily call?

I've got an older Directivo that hasn't made the call in about 3 years.

It runs just fine, but I don't have a land line.
Can I upgrade to the HD one, or does that require the daily call?

I can go to a friend's place to set it up, but no way I am paying $$ for a landline.

Does not require one. On the initial install, CSR will ask if plugged into land line, just say yes and you will be fine.

It requires one initial call. After that, no.
