But you will need an OTA antenna to receive the Chicago locals OTA on the HR10-250.
If you want the Chicago locals via DirecTV, you are correct you will currently need the DirecTV H20 receiver, because the HR10-250 cannot decode the MPEG4 DirecTV stream.
the hr10-250 will get hd local off-air but only dns (distant network services) through direcTV (which you can only get through lenghty waivers). However, it is correct that the h20 is what directv is putting out for hd locals. But you will also need the 5-LNB dish which is available in most areas which not only picks up 101, 119 and 110 but also the 103 and the not-quite-yet-up-and-running 99 sats.

As TBeckner said... you can only get the HD Locals via OTA for the Chicago Area.
You will have a very difficult time getting the DNS versions of the locals, since Chicago now has the MPEG4 feeds.

The ONLY way you can now, is if you already had another HD box activated on your account w/the NY HD nets & you add the HD Tivo onto the account. This is how I did it; I left my Hughes HD receiver on my account that already had them, then I added the HD Tivo & they all came on at activation w/no problems.

Not 100% true...
I had my neighboor call, and call, and call, and call, and call... and finally got to someone who understood that the HR10-250 is the only HD-DVR out there... and it can't see the MPEG4 stream.
Thus until the HR20 is release... They should allow the DNS activation for HR10-250 users.

OK, 99% true...
Yours is the first post I've seen of somebody who WAS able to get D* to activate DNS in an MPEG4 LIL market. It's been pretty much a given that D* would NOT activate any new DNS subs in these same markets, regardless of O&O, waivers, OR regardless of the fact there is NO MPEG4 DVR. (Judging by all the other folks complaining about this anyway)
Anyway, I'm just thankful I already had the non-DVR HD receiver on my account prior to getting the HD Tivo, so I didn't have to go thru this crap.... ;) ;)

Don't get me wrong.... He called at least 5 or 6 times. I called once or twice on his behalf, until we found someone who could "read between the lines" and understand what we where saying.
