Had to replace my fans inside my D704 when I went to the system info page to check on the internal temp I noticed it had my old zip code-I have since moved and my zip has changed (same state different zip). Does this need to be changed and if so how do I do it? The box is registered with DTV.

Only if you get your locals from DirecTV. I assume that you are still in the same time zone.

To change the zipcode just rerun guided setup.

I thought that the only need for entering your zip code was for correct dish positioning instructions, and that whatever locals you receive was based on the service address registered with D*, not what was entered in the receiver.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting correct local guide data.

Thanks, I am getting the same locals I had at my previous location so it did not seem to matter.

From what I've seen, the ZIP code entered into the receiver doesn't seem to matter in terms of guide data. (It was two weeks until I thought to check the ZIP code on the refurb TiVo I got through the "DVR4ME" deal -- turns out it had been set to "88888," but it didn't affect the guide data or any other function.)

Zip doesn't matter at all. All three of mine still show my Colorado ZIP code, even though I've been in Missouri for over a year. Your DTV package, and associated address, determine your locals.

I take one of my DirecTivos camping with me and change the zip to help aim the dish. I always forget to change it back and it hasn't mattered.

Well, since DirecTV doesn't offer locals in this area, I was just thinking in generalities.
Sorry if I offered some incorrect information, but it did get the thread moving. :)
