Can anyone suggest the way to get the best deal on signing up for Direct TV with an HD DVR? I'm sick of paying Comcast their $150 a month in monopolistic blood money for digital cable/internet.
Thanks.

Not really a lot of choices other than going to the directv website and paying DirecTV monopolistic blood money... ;)

Haha... well, at least with Direct TV, there's a choice of some sort between them and Dish Network (I don't want to start a debate of the virtues of each!). Where I am, it's Comcast or nothing in terms of cable service... Or spend a LOT of time at bars... haha.

I would take a hard look at pricing first, when I switched it saved me about $40 but I dropped four premium channels (with cable we had starz, HBO, cinemax, TMC, and Showtime, when we went to to DTV we kept Starz). I still had to keep cable for internet since I wasnt giving up broadband. You can figure in DSL if its available but sometimest the cheaper price is a much slower speed. Now I am back with cable, my bills a bit more that the $70 for DTV and $40 for Intenet when I made the switch but now I am getting more with cable (2 DVR's, two premiums, HD, VOD). Make the switch for content and / or quality, dont do it to try to save money.
Remember when you go with DTV your in it for at least 2 years.
Oh and I'm not sticking up for cable but its not monopolistic if you have an option for something else (in most cases satellitie and DSL). I dont know of many places (if any) where there are two diffent cabel suppliers for the same location. Sorry.

i just dropped Directv and went to comcast. ya, comcast is gouging my pockets. But only about 40 a month more. Considering it would have cost me 1500 bucks up front with directv to have what i have now, ill pay the 40. I have HD DVRS in 3 room and The filipino package (my wifes filipino) + all the premiums. Its 10 bucks cheaper for the TFC through comcast and i dont have to have 2 satellite dishes on my roof. Im going to stay with comcast until the IPTV hits our area. Which shouild be end of this year, beginning of next.
