Series 2 + no service + tivoserver?

Hi all, it's been a while since I've done anything new withmy tivo but I'm interested in getting tivoserver runing. I have a hacked S1 with lifetime and can buy a cheap S2 TCD 130040. I'm thinking of setting up the S2 with no service and just using it as a media server from my PC. Would this be possible? Any gotchas I should know about or threads I should read? I know there's a lot posted but it my searches haven't returned any answers.

Should work fine. I've got a non-serviced RCA DVR40 in my bonus room for the same purpose.
