I just reformated my Phillips DSR 7000 and it took me back to sofware version 3.1.1c and i connected the phone line back up and it has just finished downloading
and installing update 6.2.

My question is when i purchase PTV's instantcake CD do i buy the one for 6.2 DirecTivo's or the 3.1.1c ( which is my orignal sofware version )?

Thankyou

I haven't bought it yet, but yes i agree it's very unclear. They only talk about what it does and leave out all the rest. I'm glad you were able to clear this up for me. I'll order 6.2. Since the unit shipped with 3.1.1c i was thinking i needed to match up the PTV software with my units factory installed software, but i see it's just the reverse of that.

Thanks again

Probably a dumb questoin but...if the tivo already downloaded the 6.2, why is there a need for the instacake 6.2 version?

Just learning all this but i can answer this question. You don't need to buy PTV InstantCake if your Tivo has already taken the 6.2 update so long as you use MFS to make a backup image of your orignal Tivo drive. You can use this backup image in place of what is provided on the instantcake cd.
