I posted my ORIGINAL problem in http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=292520&referrerid=139344

I havev determined that my "A" Drive is failing...

I have an Sony SVR-3000 Series 2 TiVO with 2 x 160gb Seagate Hard Drives...

I upgraded the TiVo myself in October 2004...

I have the ORIGINAL Maxtor 80gig on the side though with the cicra-2004 kernel...

Is there a way to replace this faulty "A" drive and STILL retain my progams on BOTH DRIVES?

Or do I have to make a new replica from my orginal and any recordings I have are lost...

My tivo works for about 45 minutes perfectly, then crashes...

currently the TiVo is unplugged until I decide a course of action...

Can you now use larger drives and get the full capacity also...

I would appreciate any guidance for this issue...

I can't offer any help on the bad drive issue, but I can tell you that if you use an mfstools 2.0 boot disk with LBA48 large drive support (like the free one from weaknees), you can use any sized IDE drive - 200GB, 300GB, 500GB - whatever you want.

Actually....It's the "B" Drive that is the problem....

getting all kinds of SMART errors...

Even though my TiVo was crashing...

After I connected the "B" drive to my computer and ran the Seagate Tools...now the TiVo is stuck on the powering up screen and doesn't move...

I have a replacement drive, so I am going to try to copy the data...please any advice will be greatly appreciated!
