Hi
I was having stutters with my original 40gb tivo series 2. From what i found it all led to a hard drive problem. So I went and purchased a new 80gb hard drive to put in.
I downloaded mfs tools and followed the instructions on Hinsdale. When my computer started i did recieve a SMART error on the original disk, I then booted into MFStools. After loading the kernal I typed in:
dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=1024k
And let it do its thing. I came back an hour later and there was a message saying the transfer was not completed since there was not enough space on destination drive. I thought that was odd because i was transfering from a 40 to an 80. i hit ctrl, alt, del and shut down the computer, removed the drives and tested it in the tivo. it froze at the power up screen.
the original tivo drive was the secondary master drive
the new drive was the secondary slave.
I did not make a copy of the original OS since i figured it would just copy over....
so now what can i do? I have very little linux background. Is there any way my episodes of 24 are still on there (yeah, thats my poison...).
any help would be great.
thanks
