i have 2 DVR's, a DSR704 and DVR40. I recently purchased the instacake cd and zipped both my tivo's using a backup of the original DSR704 drive and a fresh install of the instacake image on the DVR40. The problem i had is that the DVR40 would not see the 72.5 satellite when you go thru guided setup. The DSR704 does see the locals correctly... the signal was more than adequate on all... the 101 had avrg of 98, 119 had avrg of 97, 110 had avrg of 99, and the 72.5 had avrg of 96.... needless to say, it doesnt get any better than that....I was on hold with Directv for over 40 min before they told me to try to have the tivo "Auto-Detect Satellite Information." This is found under messages & setup>settings>satellite>Auto-detect.....just follow the prompts. I had done this before when i had a different problem (before imaging) but i had never done this after i originally had the 72.5 dish installed. That corrected the issue... I had been told to go thru the guided setup 8 times by 5 diff reps after being escallated thru different levels of support. Then someone transferred me to the wrong department and the guy who answered immediately knew what to do. He wasnt even in the technical support department and he knew of the issue i was having (guided setup not seeing multi-satellite systems correctly...never mentioned was a new image and drive....lol) and how to correct it. Needless to say, he told me that he had just applied for an open position in their tech dept. and i had to have him transfer me to his sup to give him a kudos for that call... he DEFINATELY needs to be in their tech dept. I myself work for a large multi-regional cell phone carrier and I am a Technical Services Specialist. I am ashamed to say that linux is the only OS I am aware of that I have had limited exposure to so most of what i have been doing is "greek" to me. I hope this helps anyone who wants to upgrade their tivos.... the zipper IS AWESOME and works like a charm!!!! kudos to the creators and contributors!!!!
