I just used a drt800 image to create a 250GB Drive. The new drive is for a bud. I placed it in my Tivo to make sure it works, a hardware problem detected message popped up. (error#51) So..I did a clear and delete everything and it's up and running.
My question is, the drive is now married to my Tivo, my bud has a drt400. Will it still work in his and marry to his unit if he does a clear and delete everything when he installs it? I'm assuming a drt800 image will work on drt400 unit.?.

A DRT800 image will work in a DRT400 and usually does require a clear and delete on installing. Only thing is that on the system info screen it will show the unit as a DRT800 instead of the DRT400 as stamped on the back of the unit. I never stick two drives in these units so cannot comment on the marrying process.

I have to let someone else tell you why that comment is just wrong.

I think I may have have been misunderstood. I just married the new drive to my unit to test it out and it works. Now, when i give the hard drive to my bud, he will replace his existing drive so he will only have the new drive. My question is, will it still marry to his unit, even though it was previously married to mine? does that make sense? LOL

You've asked this before and I've answered it.
