I have a series 2 Philips that is stuck on "powering up." I know I can get the instant cake kit and install a new image on a new drive. Could I use the Hinsdale approach and just copy the current image onto the new drive or am I just putting a bad image on a new drive? I also have a Hughes series 2. I am assuming I could copy that image to the new drive and install it into the Philips. Is this correct?

For the most part images are model specific so the Hughes will not work in your Philips. You can always try the Hinsdale first and see if the current image is good enough to work on the new drive or not. If not, then you can either get somebody here on the forum to send you a fresh Philips image or pay and instant cake.

Well, before I received your response I Hinsdaled it and it seems to be working fine. I guess I could have issues at some point but it booted up nicely.
If it fails I'll instant cake it.
Thanks.
