Directv Box W/No Phone Line

I know that you can hook up standalone boxes to use your broadband connection - is there any way to do this with the Directv boxes? I just installed a new hd & I have no phone line, so I cant record anything until I get a call in :down:

nope unless you want to hack the unit, and once you do that, there's no need for the unit to have a phone line connected anyway. Also you can't hack an R-10 if that's what you have.

Ugh, this sucks.

I can't set any season passes or anything until I make a call.

You can use serial PPP for the TiVo calls.
