Very subdued. About 1 zinger in 10. Don't know if I'm going to stick with it. Anybody else?

My wife and I tried to watch and found it about as funny as modern SNL. It just wasn't. We watched the premiere but she lost interest about half way through it. I watched to the end and I just didn't find anything in there I cared about. The characters seemed very bland. I don't think this would have even gotten out of concept if it didn't have Lorne Michaels attached to it.

I have tried. Really, I recorded all four episodes so far, and can't get through any of them. I don't find it at all funny -- just uncomfortable where the jokes apparently belong. Hey, if it works for people, great, and I applaud new and different things -- this one is just a serious clunker for me.

I'm dropping it.

I gave it a shot and just didn't find the show funny or interesting. Nothing new here. As mitkraft pointed out it's as funny as modern SNL; good analogy mitkraft.

I really enjoyed it. Its no Arrested Development, and its not laugh out loud funny, but I didn't find myself FF.

Have the latest 2 eps still sitting on the tivo, not sure if I will get to it. No really desire to watch it though

Watched eps 3 & 4 last night. It's OK but not great. The actors have definitely gotten better at the improv thing since the pilot, but it's still not all that funny. It doesn't have the traditional "setup->joke" format, which is good, but it also doesn't seem to have any coherent planning of smart, subtle jokes like AD or Scrubs. It's just a story about a wacky family that does some strange things and gets into awkward situations. I appreciate them trying to be different, but I just don't think it's going to work. There's usually a reason a show doesn't premiere until March.

I loved how Don pronounced Spielberg.

I like it so far. I love watching other people's screwed up families. :)

Actually, in German that is how you say spiel (to play) but then the berg part was definitely said with an american accent. Fits perfectly with his character.

I like it, not sure why you guys say you can't get through it. One annoyance is, the main character guy looks a lot like Steve Carrell (sp?). Perhaps thats why I like it. Plus the hot sister and his wife are hot!

I enjoy the sister character as well and I enjoy the dyamics between the main character and each of the others.

I wish it were doing better! :(

We watched the first two last night. The pilot was so-so. I liked the second ep. better. It's definitely NOT the same as A-D, or even Scrubs: it actually has more drama in it than either of them. It reminds me a bit more of Sports Night, although not nearly as good; there's comedy but also some seriousness in there as well.

I think we'll probably keep eps 3 & 4 and see what they're like.

I got through the 3rd episode by forcing myself, but that was it.
I was wondering if anyone else was watching it too though.

My wife and I find it funny - but that may be our kind of humor (no laugh track necessary, dry, Curb Your Enthusiasm meets The Office, etc.).

I plan to watch every episode.

I forced myself to watch the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd episodes, but by the 4th I had decided I liked this family and I plan on continuing to watch.

My wife and I have watched the first 4 episodes so far. We both have enjoyed it so far.

It isn't fall-down funny like AD, Sportsight, or Scrubs, but it also isn't the same formulaic sitcom that just keeps getting remade year after year (dumpy/stupid husband, hot wife, bratty kids, annoying neighbor/parents, attractive sister, etc) Well, now that I think about it, that's exactly what it is, but it is done in a totally different way.

I think that as they find a groove with the partial script/adlib format, that it will get better.

And there is some good eye candy!

I think that I like it because they all remind me of people I know.

My wife pointed out that the main guy resembled Steve Carrell too.

I think I'm going to give it a few more episodes.

Locally, a mayoral debate (election coming up in April) pre-empted episode 1. It may have been rescheduled to the wee hours of the morning but the TiVo didn't pick that up if it were so.

I've seen episodes 2, 3, and 4 (mayoral debate ended at 8:30 in time for them to begin showing the second ep. Actually, they cut of the first minute or so of it... )

I find it interesting. Definitely not a "setup - punchline" format but sort of a darkly humorous undercurrent to the whole story. It's a really different "sitcom", not typical at all, and IMHO, the actors have fallen into a better rhythm with each ep.

I'm giving it a couple more weeks as a season pass, at least. It seems to be improving.

I like the frenetic pacing of the story and editing, it keeps me glued so I don't miss anything (and I find myself hitting RW occasionally when I do).

The "cinema verite" style is a little over done at times, though. The cameras are too shaky and it makes me a little seasick!

I think it'll get the axe, but I enjoy it enough to stick with it until that happens.

I watched about half of last nights first show and then stopped it and cancelled the SP.

I felt the first two episodes were 'so so' but I really enjoyed episodes 3 & 4. 3 & 4 seemed to me to be going more for a 'comedy drama' rather than outright comedy like in the first two and I think it works better that way.

That's true. In fact, both episodes ended on kind of a downer, somber note. Definitely not your typical sitcom. I'm still not sure I'll continue to watch it, but even if I don't, I hope it sticks around just because it's not a cookie cutter.

I tried, I really did I just can't seem to get thru more than a few minutes before I start asking myself why

I barely made it through the first two episodes. I figure I will try 3 and 4 but I have a feeling it will be deleted.

Last night (Tuesday) were episodes 5 and 6. You can find them on BitTorrent.

I've only watched eps 1 and 2. Tivo'ed and they got deleted for 3 and 4. Have no desire to continue watching it, probably dropping SP when I remember.

I'm surprised more people don't like this show. We find it really funny and plan to keep watching it. It's kind of a strange mix between AD/CYE/Office and we're enjoying it so far.

I'm with you, Susie. Surprisingly pretty funny so far, yet has absolutely no buzz on this forum. The Lost threads have about 100 extraneous posts each and yet this show gets no love. Not sure how much longer it'll last, but it's a breath of fresh air in my opinion.

And in another close line from Arrested Development...

In Episode 5, the son is constipated and the doctor suggested he see a therapist and the dad joked about an "anal therapist"....analrapist maybe?

Very subdued. About 1 zinger in 10. Don't know if I'm going to stick with it. Anybody else?I watched the first 3 episodes, but gave up halfway through the fourth. I like the style and concept of the show, and even enjoyed the actors, but I didn't like any of the characters very much, and the stories just weren't interesting enough. Soap did it all so much better. SP deleted.

I just watched eps 5 & 6 and decided this is now one of my favorite shows. Which means it will probably get canceled in two more weeks.
