Okay, this seems like a good time to recap, since the show will be off for a few weeks. I missed numerous eps, (due to a hurricane, ironically), so let me see if I have the gist.
Alien fireflies fall into the water, some local residents are cloned, reformatted? Sheriff Tom is a changeling from a previous invasion, and whenever two of the newbies mate, nastiness ensues, producing a litter of chest bursters. The CIA, (at least, Szura) knows, so how far up the chain does this go? (What does Cheney know and when did he know it?) Jesse's school is morphing into Body Snatcher High.
The "butterfly" from last week's ep seems to portend a whole new species emerging. Am I on track so far?
Say, does anyone remember the name of that SF cheesefest that little Kira was watching on tv? I don't think I've seen that movie since I watched it in a theater back in the '50s. Unless it's been on MST 3000.

I actually gave my full attention to this ep (instead of surfing etc) and still thought....huh? The only thing I can remember this morning is that eggs are hatching and there is an island with aliens (the rest was filler). What else did I forget or was this ep sorta lacking in content?

I'm starting to get the impression that Szura is not a nice guy...

Well, there was the white geeks at Jesse's school turning into psychic Harlem Globetrotters, some talking, more talking... Szura "killing" the pregnant girl. Yeah, I guess that's about it.

As always, a master of the understatement. :)
What's the deal with this Zarathustra anyway? I'm thinking that he might be a reconstituted alien too. Has that already been established, or is he just a whack job who has been in the jungle too long?
BTW, is there an 'official' nomenclature for the changelings or do we just call them new kids on the block?

I don't think it's ever been established, but I've always assumed that he was of the same generation of hybrids as the sheriff.
From the speech he gave the Happy Campers last night, it's pretty clear he's some form of alien (the whole "us against them" theme, with "them" being us).

Ok I knew about the shooting but did forget the trotters. Guess we won't make the team this year

Well, Tom said that Szera used to work for the CIA. Whether he still does or not is an open question...

Good to see you're getting back to "normal life" bob, returning to watch Invasion :) We need more peeps to keep this thread topic going!
BTW, they're called "Hybrids," bob! :)
Here's what I got from the ep, highlights and thoughts:
Mariel -- “I think they feel like they lost their mother, Tom.”
“They haven’t. And if we ever have a baby of our own, they’ll see you’re not that different after all.” –-Tom
I was totally thinking this was foreshadowing, with mariel continually checking out her belly in this ep as well as previous eps.
Then Chris implies Mariel is preggers. Why does she resist?
Chris “the baby wasn’t mine anymore, because the body I’m in now hasn’t given birth. Neither has yours, by the way.” - more foreshadowing... until Mariel ends speculation at the end, but not ending speculation that she's currently pregnant.
Chris' Glowing, thumping belly -- that can't be good for anything.
Szura previously managed the CIA, not currently.
"It looks like you’re having a litter" -- another great line.
No idea what movie Kira was watching, but wish I knew (I'd program it!).
I Predict Russ and Dave will be caught and held captive on Hybrid Island (trademark applied for).
Can the Alien babies live w/o a host? Seems like it. I'm bumming Chris' delightfully tacky, evil character is done with... for now.
No new episodes until april? This show is geting more vacation breaks than Letterman.

Oh yeah, I like the new high school character who's teaming up with the boy, gonna form their own two-man hybrid-busters myspace group and then do something about it :)

Queen of Outer Space (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0052104/) starring Zsa Zsa Gabor.
(I don't think she slaps anyone in this).

Szura: and I would have gotten away with too, if it weren't for those darn kids!

Refresh my memory on something. Healy was (ex) CIA too, right? He sure was insistent on wanting Szura dead.
Now I'm just curious to see what the offspring of two hybrids will look like - vaguely humanoid or hair balls with teeth, (ala "Critters") :)

Thanks. It's a long. slow road, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Family and friends are all safe, so I have it better than many people. (Although, trying to replace over 50 years worth of accumulated possessions can be a bit of a pain). :)

Yeah, and such a tantalizing scene to end on, the small rip in Chrissie's belly. Can't wait to see what pops out of there. :)

THANK you. I guess I was about 9 when QoOS came out. That was back when your dad could drop you off with 35 cents and you could get a ticket, pop corn and a Coke. And they still played cartoons. :)

the small rip in Chrissie's belly.
I didn't think there was a rip, just glowing and pulsating, but I could've missed it.

Nope. The rip was clean, almost like it was Taylored. (ouch, that's bad)

This episode was slow moving, like usual, but interesting.
I was surprised at the end when Szura shot Christine and Derek - didn't see that coming, but then Szura did tell Tom these two wouldn't be a problem again and he would increase his control over the other castaways.
I liked how Mariel got the nurse to call Tom, and I like that they're giving Jesse a buddy. He could use someone to talk too. Looking at him, I often feel the need to offer him anti-depressants and hide the box-cutters ...
Anyone else catch the series of continuity errors around the :24 mark, when Szura was talking with Derek in the warehouse? The camera was panning from Derek to Szura. First Derek has no shirt on, then he does, then he doesn't, then it's a sweatshirt over a T-shirt, then he finally jumps off the table, and it's a T-shirt again. I was amused!
