Woah Lisa, Melissa and Ace are the bottom 3. Kevin should be the one up there and not Lisa... Ace is safe. The loser has to be Melissa.... Has to be... Yup Melissa is gone-o. She botched the lyrics..

Yes it is. Would be great to see Kevin win it all. Is there any kind of auditing done on the voting? Could Kevin be denied victory by the producers of the show even if he is the top vote getter?

One of these days I'll remember to not look at my Excite home page until I can get a chance to watch the show. They never fail to have a picture of the loser up.

I can't say I'm surprised that she got the boot. I think that's the first time that somebody forgot the words at this stage of the competition. Also Kevin getting more votes than Ace is inexcusable.

Those who are glad Mel is gone...can you look me in the eye (Ace style) and say she is REALLY worse than Kev?

i do find forgetting the words inexcusable at this stage but i dont think American used that as criteria as they aren't that 'intelligent' if they kept chicken little in!!!! I hate that at the end they have the disclaimer about power dialers yet the numbers of calls still seems about the same as last year. Heck, it would almost be in a contestants interest to pay some people with dialers to call for them.

I'm glad ace got a wake up call. I'm not saying whether he deserved it or not, just that he seemed a bit too complacent.

Kevin is this season's John Stevens.

I don't even think it's "Vote for the Worst." I think that he has a constituency that will vote hard for him for a while.

I don't think people vote based on who did best that week, but based on who their predtermined favorite is.

His voice vibrates..he sounds like a motor running and he looks like a fish when he sings.

The problem is that people are voting for him because he is awful because they think it is funny to irritate others by keeping him in the competition and crushing the dreams of others who deserve to still be there. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it except vote more for our favorites.

I don't vote anymore because I think the whole voting process is flawed, so in a way, I can't complain about who gets voted to stay in. On the other hand, if people are voting for goofballs just for the heck of it, the system is flawed, which validates my point to not vote. Double edged sword.

wow! American Idol has shut down http://www.dialidol.com/. What a bunch of pricks.

I think it would be fairly easy to set up the site without violating American Idol copyrights. So instead of getting mad at American Idol, why not get mad at the idiots who set up the site?

The guy is an amazing idiot. First of all he apparently got a cease and desist letter and did not consult with an attorney. So he sits there wringing his tiny little mouse hands fretting about being able to post the cease and desist. (Should be no problem for him to post it, but I am not a lawyer.) Secondly his whole stupid David vs Goliath story line is more like Lenny (him) vs Bunny Rabbit (American Idol). Finally, he actually says that FreeMantle Media is infringing on his first ammendment rights to free speech, which makes him either 8 years old or very dumb.

Sorry, but I don't have sympathy or take up the cause everytime someone gets called on doing something wrong. This guy clearly falls into such a category and I have no sympathy for him. I don't care about his measuring of busy signals and gauging the vote. That is not even actionable. Not having been to the site before though, I have no idea what he had on there that might have triggered their laywers to send a c&d, but just from the messages on there now I bet dollars to donuts he was violating it in some way.

That montage was dumb, but it started off strong with chris on guitar and ended strong with mcphine threatening to handcuff me.

I didn't really dig the Stevie song. It got better towards the end, though.

I liked the Melissa farewell performance, though. Man, that was so much better than anything Kevin's done it's not funny.

I think Chris and Taylor are going to be hard to beat. Simon likes them both, the audience goes crazy for them, and they are the most unique. Only some clever cleavage can possibly usurp them.

I don't recall anything on the site that would be an infringement. If it was the use of pictures then they need to be shutting down all the fan sites as well. The site was clearly shut down because he was predicting the loser.

I didn't even get to hear Melissa's adios as the show ran over and my TiVo switched over to another channel. Did she get the words right this time? I feel a little bad for her though, she wasn't the best singer on the show but she is head and shoulders above some of the tools that are left Ace, Kelly, Kevin, Bucky, and maybe Lisa I am looking at you. She just never got any reasonable treatment by the producers. No one really new who she was so why would they vote for her? Oh well she gets to go on a tour and have some fun before fading back in to obscurity in Florida.

From what I read, the gang was supposed to sing a medley of Stevie songs. When he walked in they were practicing My Cherie Amor (sp). Did his song go on too long and they ran out of time? It seemed like Ryan was zipping through the results. Usually they milk it for as long as possible.

Our local Fox news reported last night that the band Fuel was so taken with Chris, that they offered him their open lead singer position! But he can't take it because he's signed his life away to Simon Fuller.

Just curious -- Do you think he'd be better off leaving the show to join Fuel (if he were allowed to) or sticking it out and doing something on his own through and after Idol?

I don't have a strong opinion either way -- I think he's good, and he'd be fine with a group like Fuel, but I'm getting a little tired of his one-note act on Idol. It cracked me up when he said he wanted to do a mix of the Stevie Wonder/Red Hot Chili Peppers versions of the song he performed -- I didn't hear much Stevie in there!

I guess the judges have not listened to the RHCP's version as they were giving Chris a lot of credit for "making the song his own." I think there were maybe one or two moments when he strayed from doing an exact copy of that song. And I know it pretty well at the moment, having played it numerous times in Guitar Hero (awesome game, BTW).

Still, he consistently has the best (or at least second best) performance. It should be interesting to see how he handles the upcoming themes. 50s? Blech.

And I don't think joining Fuel would be a great move for him right now. Sure, they had a few hits, but if anything, he probably has better name recognition than Fuel ever did. :)

Do you know what happened to their singer?

I honestly don't care either, just adding data points to the thread. At work I will usually check the Google cache of a website that has been mentioned in a thread, rather than go directly to that web site. Apparently before the final 12, they were targeting Kelly as the worst female, and Chicken Little as the worst male.

Ace is a leftover from the late 90s who fell off the NSync tour bus. He's polished and all, but his style is nothing interesting these days.

I don't want to resurrect the thread from the prior episode, but I was wondering why nobody chose any of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. Nobody picked "For Once in My Life," "My Cherie Amour," "You Are the Sunshine of my Life," "I Wish," "Sir Duke," or "I Just Called to Say I Love You."
