As I eagerly await the arrival of my 40hr TCD540040 from Crapusa, I have been researching the available hacks and upgrades. I was already nervous about swapping out the hd (never opened a pc in my life), but I think I could do it and use a program like Zipper. BUT now I've read that in the unit I'm getting I need to do something to a PROM (have no clue what that is), and that's where it's getting too complicated for me. At this point I would just rather pay someone more knowledgeable to do the work. I would rather not mail out my box to a place like weaknees, but deal with someone close by. Any help/PM would be appreciated...TIA

1 - Zipper is for Dtivos
2 - Prom is a chip that is soldered on the board and needs to be removed and replaced/reprogrammed. There is a thread on the DDB forum (I think) of people that do it but I doubt they will come to you.

Thanks for the clarification. I checked ddd and they do not have the chip. So I was hoping that someone knew of a place/person I could take my system to have the upgrades done. I'd like to find someone in NYC and the boroughs.
