I have so many mixed feelings now. On one hand, as of tonight, I can only get Live TV audio through the RF coax since the RCA input seems to have died. On the other hand, I've never dealed with a company as wonderful as Humax!

I was on hold for about 30 seconds, a nice woman answered and asked for my phone number. She brought up my account and saw that I had a refurb DRT800 they sent me at the end of December '05. Once I told her what was wrong, she didn't pester me with annoying CSR scripts, it was a human conversation!

Her: I'm sure you swapped in different RCA's right?
Me: Yes.
Her: And you rebooted?
Me: Yes, a soft boot, then a hard boot.
Her: Okay, I'm sure you have it hooked up right. I'll send you another refurb, we don't even need to place a hold on your credit card this time - you'll get it in 4-5 days.

I was

I wish all companies were that pleasant. It's distracting me away from how crappy their hardware is! I have the cable box hooked up to TiVo with RF coax :( but at least it works. Now I have a couple of days to decide whether or not I want to swap hard drives before I send back the refurb - I'm leaning towards yes.

EDIT: It worked fine for about a day after 7.2.2 was installed.

Well, the refurb came today via UPS. Looks extremely clean, as if it was never installed. Manufactured date on the back of the unit says March 2006  . The interesting thing is, when I opened it, most of the parts say they were manufactured in Oct '04. I don't get how this logistically would work, there is no way a box was made on 3/1, shipped to retail, sold, installed, returned to Humax, repaired, refurbished, shipped out to me all in 2 weeks! This mystery could be a new thread in itself!

If this box (and my first refurb) were ever in service, I'm extremely impressed at the extent Humax goes to to make their refurbs look immaculate! The fan blades even look like the unit has never been turned on.

It's all hooked up and I have my 26 season passes/wishlists entered and for the last 65 minutes it's been downloading a software update (7.2.2 probably).

Well, all is well on this box, hopefully it'll last! >>knocks wood<

I am sorry for being direct but where did you get the box and how much was it? Thanks.

I got my DRT800 from TiVo rewards last summer - so I guess it was free!
