Don't listen to ABC radio news this morning.
I just heard a MAJOR plot point.
:(
I've avoided the sopranos thread until I saw the ep. BURN in HELL ABC Radio...

I heard that his morning too.

Fortunately for me, they said "If you Tivo'd Sopranos last night, you may want to turn down the radio..." which I did, so I did.

I don't understand why they need to spoil the Sopranos plot line at all - especially if there is a major plot devlopment?!?! If you watched the show, then you already know what happened. If you did Tivo it, you won't want to hear it and there is a chance you might miss thier disclaimer. If you don't watch Sopranos, then would you care what happened?

I'm guessing this is just some sort of news-vertisment for HBO to generate buzz for the Sopranos, or ABC news is trying to show how cool they are because they watch Sopranos.

I for one am going to complain to ABC news.

BURN in HELL FOX ... ABC Radio...

Lots of radio stations talk about a TV show the next day. I have been pretty lucky to stay spoiler free in most of my shows and I'm about a 1/2 a season behind for Lost. The only time spoilers is a problem for me is watching live sporting events.

The majority of Sopranos watchers watch the Sunday night episode.

The marority of Sopranos watchers don't have a dvr.

The world shouldn't stop spinning for those of us that do.

The majority of Sopranos watchers watch the Sunday night episode.

Then there should be no need to discuss the plot on the news - The "majority of Sopranos watchers" already know what happened.

I understand that the season premier of the Sopranos is newsworthy, but this can be reported without giving away the plot line.

What purpose does discussing the plot line serve other than spoling it for those who havent watched it yet? Maybe this is a way to force people to watch it on Sunday night to increase the ratings?

BTW, I don't expect the world to stop spinning for me because I have Tivo ... but it would nice if I could use the "Instant Replay" once in a while :D

I had a co-worker come in this morning and say three words that spoiled it for me. When I got upset he said something like "It's all over the news, I was sure you would have heard it." I still haven't heard it from any other source yet.

Why is a TV show considered 'news' in the first place?

It's not TV, it's HBO.

By that same logic, there'd be no need to have threads on this forum either. 99% of the people that post in the specific episode threads have already seen the episode and know what happened, so why have a thread discussing it?

I KNEW our local DJs would spoil the episode this morning.

Driving into work I was at the ready... the minute I heard them say "... and Sopranos returned to TV last night"... I immediately flicked on my CD player!

I'm just glad they didn't say something when I was in the shower or something!

Be warned. If by chance you record Good Morning America, they showed the actual clip from the Sopranos AND a spoiler clip from Deperate Housewive

Also, there is a link to a story on the front page of MSN. No spoiler unless you follow it though.

Sorry, but discussing popular shows is very common on talk radio. Happens with all kinds of shows that I watch. You need to be cognizent enough to be aware enough when they are going to do it and flip the dial. Some shows I watch the night they come on and it doesn't matter, others I stack up and/or watch later. In those cases, I just turn off the radio if anybody starts venturing into discussions related to the shows.

The idea that talk radio shows should not discuss recent popular telvision shows the next day because everyone already saw them is not terribly logical. That would mean it doesn't really make sense for them to talk about anything.

I'm glad there are no spoilers in this thread! I didn't see it last night so I'm TiVoing it at midnight tonight. I won't get to see it before the weekend as I'm away on business (as usual!).

However, I agree with those who say it's fair game to talk about it on TV and Radio the next day. It's my hard luck if I hear a spoiler. Kinda like trying to avoid the Super Bowl scores for a couple of days if I wanted to watch it later - it ain't gonna happen!

As a non-Sopranos watcher who also hasn't heard the spoiler yet, I decided to search the news for "Sopranos", just for my own curiosity. The first article I saw (non-spoiler, don't worry) had the headline "Short films eye the really small screen", but I misread it as "Short eyes", and for a moment thought that the big spoiler concerned pedophilia. Ew.

The difference is that people come to Tivo Community specifically to discuss what happened in the shows (among other things), and there are rules regarding spoilers - don't put spoilers in headlines, etc.

I agree. It's one thing for your local morning DJs to discuss whatever they want. I'm not suggesting a gag-order. However, the Sopranos story was presented as a news item during the ABC news feed. Not just that the show premiered, but what happened in the show.
