View Full Version : The Simpsons - "The Seemingly Never-Ending Story" (3/12)
Why, oh why, did I watch this episode the whole way through?
I think this one makes the top of my Worst. Ever. list.

Ugh - I say every week that I am going to cancel my SP and then I end up deciding that it has to get better and keep watching... perhaps this one will push me over.
It sounds like the title was quite appropriate to the ep though :)

I liked it. I thought the story within a story within a story was pretty cool, and we found out that Snake's real last name is Jailbird.

Really? I think it was one of the most clever episodes in a long time.

I enjoyed it very much.
I thought it was clever, and it was kinda funny having the Moe/Mrs. K thing and the whole crazy texas guy having OCD and all.

I like it also, I thought it was one of the best of the season, past few seasons even. Snake as a bright eyed young archaeologist was great.

I thougth when Moe snuck into Snake's place to steal the gold coins, they should have done an Indian Jones, switching the bag of sand for the gold statue, move :) Would have been perfect

I totally agree. I actually found myself entertained by a Simpsons episode! Must be a leap year. :D

I really enjoyed it because it showed us a few regular characters from before they became who we knew them to be....Ms. K and Snake and even Moe were different enough to make it interesting. Sort of gave me a LOST flashback feeling. There were connections we might never had guessed.

Would the gold coins really have worked in the juke box?

I really liked it. Seems like the "liked it"s out weigh the Comic Book Guys this week. ;) My favorit part was Moe in the cave. "You guys brought guns? (backs into the shadows) So did I!"

Moe
"Youz guyz better leave us alone before I out the one of youz that's gay!"
Im not up on my Simpsons trivia as of late. Out of Homer, Barney, Carl, and Lenny, I would have to guess Lenny because of his obsession with Carl. Is this commonly known trivia? Or is this just constantly alluded to like Smithers orientation?
BTW. I liked it. 1.2.3.4

They already did that with Bart many years ago.

I only watched about 5 minutes of this episode. Not because it was bad, not because I didn't want to, but because there was a thunderstorm watch up near Kansas and the (what was that acronym? IBWH?) Fox weather guy was on for most of the evening. ARRGGHH!!

Hmm - very polarized opinions on the episode.
I thought it was excellent. So many episodes recently are either just recycled ideas from the past (how can they NOT be after 17 seasons?), or just plain stupid. This one was fresh, different, interesting, and funny.

 for me as well. Glad to see the writers trying something new instead of the done-to-death 'Homer has a midlife crisis and starts a wacky new job or hobby' plot.
I'm sure the whole 'story within a story within story' device is a homage to a classic book or movie, but what? I think Lisa mentioned it briefly, but I don't remember what she referenced.

Add me to the liked it list. Lots of memorable lines, which is so much a part of what makes (made?) the Simpsons so much fun to watch.
Thought the OCD 1/2/3/4 got a little tiring though 2 3 4

I just watched and enjoyed much more than I thought I was going too - and much more than most recent episodes. Quite a few laughs.

One of the few that I rewatched. Too much detail to see it all the first time.
I used to watch the Simpsons two or three times to get all the nuances. This felt like the old days.
