i downloaded the $5 lba48 cd image from ptv - burned iso - got the pc to boot from the cd.

I see the usual startup items (uncompressing, etc)

then it detects my hard drive (/dev/hda 30gb) and cd rom (/dev/hdc)

next it says

ide0 at (......) irq 10
ide1 at (......) irq 15

and then it sits forever - I never get to the linux prompt.

It does boot correctly on my laptop but that, of course, doesn't help me any.

Can anyone provide any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Just a thought, but maybe this (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=3083938#post3083938) could be relevant?

Do you have a SATA controller on your motherboard? I've heard that some people have had to disabled that feature in the BIOS before it'll boot all the way.

do you have an AMD athlon 64 processor? my computer is finicky booting linux. one thing you could try is to change around you drive configuration. maybe swap something that was a master for a slave etc. that usually fixes my problem.

and when it doesn't, i use my dad's computer. it's a trusty 900 mhz amd. it always boots.

I had trouble with my AMD box too. I use an old Pentium 2 200mhz POS to hack my tivos. Someone gave it to me for free instead of throwing it away. I don't use it for anything else.
