Wow! Sorry. Found a thread with many posts on this. guess I will try a few more things before asking for more help.
Well after spending the majority of the day yesterday searching these forums and on the phone with a few help desks I am no further along. The current situation is I can transfer movies from my Tivo to my computer but my Tivo cannot find the server at IP address ###...when looking for pictures or music. Confirmed so far:
1) I have the pictures and music published.
2) I have tried using the computer and router IP addresses.
3) I was on the phone with Linksys adding port 443 to the router
4) I’m not sure I did it but I tried to disable all security on my computer (window’s firewall, Norton, router…) though I must admit I am a noob at this and might have missed something. I do feel the problem is here somewhere.
The Linksys people said I need to configure the wireless adapter but I can’t seem to do that. Originally I just plugged it into the Tivo unit and it found the router… After speaking with them I loaded the resource cd on my computer, put the wireless adapter in my computer but I could not get anything to come up on screen to change so I put it back in the TiVo.
Currrent setup
HP running XP, Linksys WRT54G ver 2 router, NetGear WG111 Ser# 130… TiVo 2, Comcast cable on the computer and tv.
