Probably a no-brainer...but...

access tivo thru web...start download of a show...

I'm assuming the web browser (Firefox) must remain open for the duration of the download???

Just keep downloading window open. You can close the browser window itself. (It will probably still be running in TaskManager as a process).

FYI, files over 4GB will fail using a browser. Regardless if you have NTFS or not.

Thats good to know...opposite what i thought.

And i found that can only download one show at a time....found that the "hard" way. ;-(
