I have recently upgraded to a HD Tivo from DirecTV. Problem is, the box will not call out to Tivo. DirecTV says they are getting their calls, and one of my other standard DTV Tivo boxes dials out to both of them, but not the HD. DTV tried to trouble shoot, adding a different dialing string, and making sure my dial tone detection and all was turned off(it was, all settings are set correctly). and now they are sending a new unit. Has anyone else had this problem? BTW, I have Vonage, but, before the HD unit was added, there was never a problem. Could it just be a bad unit, or is there something else? Any help would be a big help. Thanks. :mad:

Since no one else has helped you...
the D* TiVos get their guide info directly from the satellite now. So the only need to have it hooked up is if D* sends out a software upgrade, which the phone call initiates (but it downloads from the satellite). Since the HD Tivo is not likely to receive any more upgrades, you really needn't worry about having it hooked to a phone line.

Search the HD Tivo forum for Vonage. Many other people have had this problem, it seems to be unique to the HR10-250.
Edited to add: Also, look at Vonage's website, IIRC they specifically list the TIVO under troubleshooting.
Isn't the phone line required to order PPV movies?

No. PPV movies can be ordered online through D*'s website. No phone line required.
