I've received had problems with my DTiVo (it wouldn't boot) and sent it off to WeaKnees to get it reimaged. It turned out they also had to replace the power supply to get it to work, but after getting it back yesterday it still doesn't work. It starts out with the "Welcome, powering up" screen and proceeds to the "Almost there" screen as expected, but then the screen flickers and it goes back to the "Welcome" screen. This cycle is repeated over and over and the DTiVo never boots all of the way.

Does anyone know what might cause this kind of reboot loop?

Bad hard drive or the software is corrupted. Contact Weaknees and see what they have to say about it.

I did contact them. They said it worked fine when it left their site so there's not much I can do on that side of things. I guess I'll have to try to restore my original 3.0 backup image to see if that stops the reboot loop. If it doesn't, I think this DTiVo may have to put to rest. I've already spent more than it was probably worth to try to get it fixed, and it's still not working...

...They said it worked fine when it left their site...So say they...what proof can they offer? Do they have a video tape of it booting up? Most likely the technician made the repairs on the repair order and never bothered to boot it up when he was done (maybe it was quitting time).

As others have indicated... You paid to have the box fixed, it is not. Weeknees needs to take care of it. Read the warranty information and call them back. If they won't fix it they can return your money then.

I will definitely discuss the matter with them further. I just reimaged the drives again myself with a virgin 6.2 image and it appears to have solved the problem. I've made it to guiided setup now, which is further than it was getting after I got the unit back from WeaKnees. I'm assuming at this point I'll be able to finish the setup. And then I'll call WeaKnees...
