This morning I was running a new cable for my DVD player and I ever so slightly bumped the power cable for my DVR40 and I heard a buzzing come from the unit and it shut off.

I figured maybe the cable was already loose so I pushed on it a bit and the fan started up and I heard a buzz again this time I also saw some sparks like a short curcuit coming from where the power cord plugs in. I pulled the pug.

I am thinking that it may be a bad power supply. I tried the cord from my DSR7000 and the same thing happened and the DVR40 cord works fine on my DSR7000.

Anyone else have this happen to them before? Is it worth the $49 + shipping from weaknees or is there another place to get one?

I've heard of the connections getting flaky.

Maybe an X-Box "replacement cord" Might help :)

Take your unit and use a cut-up emery board or small file to gently clean the two prongs in the chassis power socket, if possible - they are probably crappy after the arcing. Remove any dust/filings with a cotton swab before putting the cord on.

lol, but back to the topic. Has anyone ever had a power supply go bad? What did it do and did you replace it or just get a new machine?
