Anyone heard anything about this "future feature" finally being activated? I'd like to finally lose my stinking landline. I'm a vonage guy yet never was able to configure dial-in with vonage (plus I'm "outlet-less" with my receivers unless using landline and combining vonage with wireless jacks, and that combination is absurd). At any rate, my point is if they finally activate these USBs I would hope I could finally update over the web and lose the landline. Any chance of this happening? Or are we stricken to the pleasant aesthetic look of USB ports with no functionality!?

you dont need the landline except to order PPV on your remote or update software (which wont be happening anytime soon)
so if you have a working HDtivo now, and dont mind nag screens or ordering PPV online, ditch the landline

On a discontinued, unsupported product? Don't count on it.

I'm going on 9 months with the nag screen. No big deal. I got an e-mail from Vonage saying they'd made some changes to my account and the hd tivo should dial in now, but it still doesn't work. No biggie.

I have been using a serial cable to my Windows XP computer for over a year with no problems. The only issue is you need a Windows XP computer near your HD DirecTivo...
