One month wait for install?!

Got the 6th Avenue deal (thanks all for the link!) for the HR10, and called March 3 to schedule an installation with Directv. Was told the earliest appt. is April 4! If I wait that long, I'll be past the 30 day requirement for the $200 rebate. I currently have an older 2 LNB elliptical dish, so I suppose that can hook up to that to activate the unit, albeit with limited functionality.

Doesn't this seem like too long of an installation delay? I called again this weekend, but they said that's the earliest they can do it. I'm in San Jose, and there must be other installers Directv uses, but they said they contract with only one per zip code, so if I want the free install I'll have to wait.

They wouldn't even give me the free install since I didn't buy it from them, I also jumped on the 6ave deal.

I'm sure if I would have played CSR roulette I could have gotten the install, but I wasn't in the mood.

I just bought the dish myself and will be installing it this weekend if the weather cooperates.

Activate it using your current dish. You won't have all channels, but you will be able to activate it in time for your rebate. Having said that, a month seems like a long time.
