Latest DVR Software versions?

I have 3 D* DVRs and they all have different versions of software...or seem to.

Is there a way to tell what the latest versions are for each model/brand?

I have...

...Phillips DSR708 - ver 6.2-01-2-301
...Hughes HDVR2 - ver 6.2-01-2-151
...DirecTV R10 - ver 6.1-01-2-521

The R10 is the one I got via the DVR4ME and noticed it had 6.1 vice 6.2.
Do I need to try to force an update to 6.2 on the R10?

I believe those are all really the same ver of the software and it is the latest.

The last 3 digits ID the DTiVo model and the 6.1 vs 6.2 is because of the R10 being a more locked down hardware platform but there are virtually no differences in the opperating systems.

Also there will, most likely, be no further updates to any of these systems.

At least no official updates from Directv. You can always hack a Series2 with a Tivo version that enables all the other features.

The 6.1 on your R10 is exactly the same as the 6.2 on the others. And yes, you can hack a series 2, but unless you want to get involved in unsoldering and soldering proms on the main board, you can't hack the R10 (apart from changing the hard drive).

You can always hack a Series2 with a Tivo version that enables all the other features.Relative ease for hacking (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=265929)unless it is an R10, then a chip needs to be removed/replaced on the mainboard.
