It's probably XM that won't let DTV let DT TiVo copy XM channels. Probably because they don't want "perfect" digital copies being made of the music. If you bother to do a search here you may find some work-arounds.

if so, why do they let DTV's own R15 record the XM channels? :(

why won't DTV let DirecTiVo use it's network capabilities?
why won't DTV let DirecTiVo take advantage of it's vod offering?
why won't DTV let DirecTiVo use it's mrv capabilities?
simply,
why won't DTV let DirecTiVo be a Tivo????

If directv let their tivos actually BE tivos then their "new +" boxes would look like poop and no one would buy them.

no one other than the old utv and the "I Hate Tivo" crowd, anyway

why wont DTV let DirecTiVo record XM channels? The DirecTiVos can record the music channels, but they have to be hacked.

Once the DirecTiVo has been hacked, you can use the manual record capability in TiVoWebPlus to get around the restrictions.

Before the 6.2 upgrade, back in the 3.1 days, you could record the music channels using a Wishlist item, but that option appears to have been CLOSED by DirecTV when version 6.2 was released.

And if the HR10-250 cannot record the music channels using a Wishlist item then it appears that DirecTV closed that option earlier.

I have a hacked DirecTivo and was able to extract the recorded XM file. My question is how do you play the extracted file on your PC? Since the file is audio only, the normal video extraction methods don't seem to work for me.

Since the file is audio only, the normal video extraction methods don't seem to work for me.I can't answer that question, because I DO NOT extract any of my recordings. If I want to save a recording, I use an attached DVD Recorder (a stand alone LiteOn DVD Recorder from Costco, cost $99) to make a recording to either a DVD+R or DVD+RW.

Sorry, I cannot help you, you might want to Google it.
