boxes can't see each other

I have had multi room viewing in the past, but for the last 8 months it has not been working. I have tried everything, each box is not coming up in the other's now playing list. I can't tell you how many times that I have disconnected from the network, plugged and unplugged everything in. I have also disabled the transfers allowed, etc. and reconnected to the server, then turn the transfers allowed, etc. back on and reconnected again, blah blah at least 3 times a month, and always no luck.
also, sometimes my pictures and music come up.,.but mostly they don't.
HELP
