Sorry for a really noob question, but I need to know. :)

I have a HR10-250 on the way from 6AVE and I ordered an OTA HD antenna install from DTV. Since the HR10-250 is replacing my old HDVR2, I already have the two cables ran from the dish.

The question is, what kind of cable and connectors do i need for the OTA antenna that I'm getting from DTV? Is it the same RG6 with the coax connectors, just like for the dish? I'd like to run the cable for the antenna myself as I know the installer will want to charge me to go under the house.

Should be just RG6 and F connectors.

I have a similar question regarding the OTA antenna D* provides. How well has it worked for those that have had it installed? How far are you from the towers? Anyone from the western suburbs of Chicago using it? Many Thanks.

I haven't seen many posts about people getting the DTV antenna so I don't have a feel for whether it's any good. I figure it's only $49 so I'd take a chance on it.

If the DTV antenna is crap, I'll probably try the Wineguard Squareshooter from Warren Electronics.

Mine from DTV was a DB4. Worked OK but ended up going with Radio Shack's anyway.

Can I ask how they mounted it? On a j mount? Or did they do something atrocious?

Charge you to go under the house? I've never had that problem, maybe I just got lucky with installers. All three have had to go under but didnt say anything about an extra charge. Then again, the underneath of my house has a clearance of 4ft.

They used another antennae base and arm the same as for the dish antennae's. The OTA antennae mounted to that perfectly.
