Did anyone else experience audio and video dropouts? I noticed it only on the HD channel.

Yes, I had to change to the non-hd broadcast.

I'll do you one better... I missed it entirely since the local OTA channel went TANGO UNIFORM for a few hours last night.

At one point Direct TV posted a message saying "No need to call us, this channel is temporarily unavailable"

Hmm I watched it OTA on the HD channel in Atlanta and had no drop outs at all.

The NY HD feed was terrible. Of course I recorded it so I had no chance to switch to the SD channel. I am fed up with D*'s HD issues.

It locked up so bad last night, we had to switch to SD to watch the show! Was that a cable box problem or HD signal problem? We have Comcast in NJ.

I have Comcast and had the same problem. I don't think you can blame this one on DirectTV

No.
It is airing in "Digital" though, upconverted from the analog, but not in true "High Definition".
