View Full Version : Where can one go for Galleon support now?

My lovely Galleon 2.2 has turned into a nightmare. I kept getting a "TivoBeacon cannot be installed" when trying to install the program. I formatted my hard drive, and finally got it to install. Now, the program crashes constantly when trying to load it. I uninstalled and am back to getting "TivoBeacon cannot be installed." Is there any place to go for support now? I've checked that all my ports are clear. I've confirmed Tivo Beacon is running. I've connected to my Tivo with Tivo Desktop. I am at the end.

Glad to see that Galleon is still the app to use with Tivo. 83 views, and not one reply? Please Tivo, hurry up with those Yahoo apps.

Try a search. A search on "TiVoBeacon cannot be installed" produces, amongst other things, this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=288661).

I did try a search. Both here and on the Galleon website. The thread you linked to was one that had no resolution. Thankfully, Leon read and replied to my email very quickly. The problem is now fixed.

Perhaps you could add your resolution to that thread for the next person, then. There are a few things there that helped some people, and maybe with the addition of yours, it'll help even more.

Excellent idea. Sorry. I should have thought of that. Thank you.

Resolution: From Leon: If you have the TiVo Desktop software installed, close that software and stop the TiVo Beacon service before you install Galleon.

Stop only the Tivo Beacon, not the other processes like TivoServer and TivoTrnasfer. Make sure Tivo Desktop is closed.
