i just bought my tivo a couple of weeks ago and started to find out i need more space to record. i have been reading about up grading and have a couple of questions?
1.i bought a seagate 160 hard drive will it work?

2. i have read about a risk of tivo having a lethal charge and its stoping me from upgrading. Is there a big risk im taking?

3. im new to computers and tivo. i have never really done any thing like this. is it going to be hard to upgrade?

1. Yes, it should, presuming that's an IDE drive.

2. Not a big risk. Make sure the TiVo is unplugged. Letting it sit for a while first can allow any capacitors to drain. And just avoid touching any of the power supply components when you have the case off, it isn't hard.

3. If you're really not familiar with upgrading PC hardware, etc, you might be better off picking up an InstantCake CD from PTVUpgrade.com since it is basically wizard driven. You connect the drive to a PC, boot the CD, and follow the prompts. It is simpler than burning your own tools CD and copying the image from the old drive to the new, etc.
