Mysterious "Grey Screen" problem

I have an 80 hour Humax DVD (DRT800) recorder/TiVo and have been using it with no problems until now.

Recently when trying to view programs I thought I had recorded, instead of the program, all I have is a "grey screen" with no sound or video the entire length of the show recorded. This solid grey screen had been appearing randomly but has been occurring more frequently this week. Most of the time shows I have recorded come through okay but this grey screen is puzzling me. Has anyone else with a Humax experienced this? I have checked my connections and all are fine. I'm using a wireless connection. At first I thought that my cable connection was out but my other tv was working. Is this a hard drive problem?

Does anyone have any suggestions or should I just call Humax?

I've solved my gray screen problem -- my cable box was faulty; since exchanging it for a new one, my problem has gone away. :)

I realize this is an old thread but what he woodle48 described is happening to my RS-TX20. Occasionally I will have several minutes of grey screen with no audio. Is this a sign that I am about to have serious har drive issues? Or could it be something simpler?

FYI, I do not use a cable box and my TiVo is connected directly to the cable from the wall.

You may have lost signal from the cable company for that period of time.
