I have had my old samsung ts360 receiver in the closet since i got my first hd tivo. worked fine when i put it in there. Has not been touched until today when i figured id put it on ebay to get rid of it since i have another hd tivo scheduled to be here tomorrow. when i plugged it in, i makes a fast clicking noise from it. my best guess is the rear area near the top right side. i tried to plug in the sat to it just in case it needed it but still there. any idea why its ticking, sounds like a bomb ticking!! should i just throw it away now?? i tried to push the reset button and that didnt help either. as soon as plugged in, it ticks, no display either.

i dont get it, it worked fine when i put it away and it has not been used or touched since.

thanks.

I have the same unit (ts360); been unplugged for quite a while (in its box). Plugged in again, clicking noise doesn't stop! I don't know what to do...I may try just letting it run for an hour or so. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Does it have a fan?

I think it's a defective fan blade assembly. I had the same thing with a Hughes DirecTV DVR. It turned out to be a cracked vane.

I removed the fan assembly and ran the unit for several months with the cover off. I finally bit the bullet and bought a new one from Weaknees.

It wouldn't hurt to try this before tossing the unit.
