I was having some problems and had to do a complete clear and reset. When it came back on, all my D* locals were gone. The OTA locals were scanned and are available.
Did I miss something in the initial setup? I get most locals OTA but I'm paying for locals through D* so I'd just assume be able to watch them.
Any tips before I call D* and try to explain what 'HD' means?

Yeah -- It's an HR10-250, not an HD-250.

Call 1-800-directv, then enter 722, it resends the signal and your locals will be up after 2 minutes.

Very helpful. That's obviously what's caused the problem. Thanks.

I just lost my locals after adding an antenna for OTA & I re-ran the auto-detect and it fixed it.

I had the same thing happen after a clear and delete. Did the C&D overnight, and after the guided setup in the am, only the OTA locals were avaiable.
When I got home from work, I was going to call DTV to ask WTF?? but lo and behold everything was back and coolamundo.
Could have been it needed more time to download all the data.
