I have has a problem getting the system to reboot after instructed by customer service to do so when my Tivo would not load the guide or pgms to be recorded. All are functions worked. I have posted earlier and was instructed to "kickstart" - which hasn't worked still on the green screen claiming 3 hours after 48 hrs. I was also told that i might need to reimage my disk. A few questions regarding this....
1. How do you reimage your disk? I am not a systems engineer so any instructions in non-techno jargon would help.
2. How would I know that I needed to create a backup of the "image" when I got Tivo - they threaten to cancel any warranty if you open the damn thing. How would this be done? via a PC? Mac?
3. What if I don't have a back up? Which I don't. Am I up the proverbial creek or can I get an "image" - which I assume is some sort of file - to download on to a new disk or the current one?
I am not afraid to open the sucker up. I just need to know what to do without having to go through another 4 years of college or hire a jr high geek to do it for me.
I have a Tivo Series 2 TCD240140 - I assume the 140 is the size of the drive. I don't care if I lose any of the shows on the current disk. Please help out or point me to a resource that will. Much appreciated in advance - I need my Tivo back, the digital DVR from cablevision just sucks!
