Hey all,

My lifetime sub, 80 hr SA Tivo hasn't been able to connect to the Tivo service since February 17th. Whenever it tries to connect, it sets the clock and fails with the message "Could not get account status." I've rebooted a few times, unplugged the USB cable (which connects to the Internet via an Ethernet adapter), and have even changed its static IP address. When I test the network connection, it always succeeds, and I can still access my shows via Tivo Desktop (so I know that the machine still works). I'm worried, since my guide data is set to run out this Thursday. Now, I noticed that some people were having this problem in 2003, but in that case, they seemed to be using dial-up to connect, not a home network. Does anyone know of a solution?

I had the same problem about a year ago. Tried everything.
Turned out my isp had locked up some modem ports (as far as I could tell).
From then on, the everything worked exactly as you describe, including the always present "Could not get acct. status" message.

After much research and many talks with Tivo (I assumed they were simply passing the buck when Tivo told me Bellsouth had probably changed my connection parameters), following Bellsouth's advice, I did a launchmodem and opened port 2190 tcp & udp. Also opened 8079 tcp.
Restarted modem and it worked fine.

I know little what all that means, but it was a success.

Hello,
Just want to know if you have gotten any further. I am stuck in the same boat really. Only, I have not been able to connect for the last 30 days and as a result, I have zero channel data. I can see the network (Very Good rating @ 80%), I can go all the way to the "Downloading..." prompt and after a couple of minutes, I get the connect error ("connection failed"). I am at my wit's end and the last thing I want to do is extend a 200ft phone cable to get my Tivo back with channel data.

Any help here would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Chris
