So thanks to Jenhudson for sending me her copy of Stargate (the movie) So I wacthed it and loved it and I am now wacthing the reruns (and new episodes) on Sci-Fi.

He apparently left because he didn't like the militaristic tone of the series, and came back because he realized that after Stargate, he would have pretty much the same career he had before Stargate. (The first I read in stories about his leaving; the second is just a guess. But I suspect a good one!)

Strange. I thought he had left when his wife was having their baby. He wanted to spend more time with his family.
I thought that was the main reason for him coming back and later his wife getting the position as the doctor.
Kind of made his family life better.

I remember reading wanting to explore other acting options. But like Rob Helmerichs said, Michael Shanks's stage isn't a very big one. :D I saw him on an episode of CSI Miami where we played a very very bit part.

Wasn't even the killer.

Love him as Daniel though.

His daughter was born in 2004. His "leave of absence" from SG-1 was 2002-2003.

I watched that episode. Don't really like CSI but my GF watches it...

Saw his name in the credits and it took be a second to remember who he was. Was figuring he would have a more prominent role and was surprised that it was so small.
