Does Series2 TiVo jump back further on 60x than Series 1?

I can understand TiVo's reasoning. It was hard to get it just right. I put a lot of practice into it... and now I'm jumping back too far.

I seem to remember that on the S1 there were backdoor codes for modifying the jumpback... can I do that same thing on my S2.5 540? AND, can I do so without fear of screwing anything up or stopping TiVo customer service from supporting my box in the future?

Backdoors require serious hacking to enable on S2 units running the latest software. Just ride it out, you'll get use to it.
