Just wanted to let others know that the Tv show "Space Above and Beyond" from around 1995 is out on DVD. It was a SciFi show that only lasted one season. It's been out for a few months but I just found out about it. I really enjoyed it.

Picked this up a while back and it's still on my 'to watch' shelf. I remembered the show from when it first aired but wasn't sure if I'd seen all the episodes. Figured it would be a nice way to reminisce about good old sci-fi that's not star trek/B5/etc.

I'm so ready for this collection, although I recorded basically the entire series when it was re-run on scifi channel. And since there's really no peripherals on the collection, I'm not interested in buying the set no matter what, which stinks, because I'd love to have it.

Now, If Morgan and Wong would do some commentaries, they interviewed some of the actors, david duchovny and other special guest stars who happened to show up time to time on chris carter's 1013 productions (xf, millennium, long gunmen, the crappy VR show :) ) and how they worked as a team on all the series, THAT would be interesting. Not just throwing the eps on dvd, no interesting.

as much as i would love to see this... i know for a fact it ended on a pretty great cliffhanger. one of the few shows that i've watched where they're last episode was a cliffhanger (john doe, earth 2, mortal kombat). it seems almost pointless to watch it now knowing how it ends...

Well... crap.

It's a good thing I know that, with both the Earth 2 and Space Above and Beyond DVD sets unwatched at home :(

sawy... hehe. u gotta figure that any sci-fi show that lasts one or two seasons usually wont' get a proper closure.

I don't remember the cliffhanger in question. Do tell, spoilerize it , of course! :)

What I love about the DVD set is that the Babylon 5 space station appears in one of the menus. Upper right if I remember correctly.

I don't remember the cliffhanger in question. Do tell, spoilerize it , of course! :)It's been a while since I saw the show, but as I recall, there's actually some debate about the ending and how to interpret it. Some people say it's a cliffhanger, while others say it's a final episode. It all depends on: Whether you believe that all the apparent deaths and "certain death" situations are for real. They set it up so that pretty much all of the main characters are either dead, presumed dead, or trapped in an "inescapable" death-spiral by the end of the episode. But the latter situation at least is a pretty classic cliffhanger setup, with some deus-ex-machina savior turning up in the first few mintues of the next season. IMHO it can be seen either way; it all depends on the intent of the writers, and whether they knew they were cancelled before they wrote it. Though I personally saw it as a cliffhanger...

Was that really the cliffhanger?

Didn't FOX end the show but then air a few "unaired" episodes a few months later? (out of sequence I think)

I think I remember watching the show "end" in college but getting a few unaired eps (that explained some of the backstory of the aliens I think) in the summer, at home. But I may very well be wrong.

I don't remember the unaired eps ever airing, but saw them on scifi.

I DO remember Fox wanting Morgan and Wong to return to Xfiles, which they did, for a bit (and Millennium afterward) to help write/produce the rising series... which they did before moving on to Final Destination 1 and 3, to name a couple of things...

Guess I'm half right.

The last two episodes to air on FOX really were the last two in sequence. But they did air a bit later on.

That jives with my college/home memories 'cause I would have been back at my parents' by late May / early June for those last two.

Heh, All I remember about the last episodes is that West finds his girl or something, but that's it. Anyone know a site with a detailed summary?

In the spirit of 'old sci-fi shows(and their threads) not to miss', I figured I'd revive an old thread for a great show. I finally dusted off the unopened dvd's of this series & have been pleasantly surprised at how good this is. Granted the cgi is for crap & the music is a bit dated but if you liked starship trouper, chances are you'll like this series.

I do agree- a few decent commentary's would have gone a long way selling this set tho.
Was this airing at the same time as B5? I'm trying to figure out how I missed it....

Still my favorite sci-fi show of all time.
Morgan & Wong are the masters of character development and story arc.

As I remember, it was forever being pre-empted by NFL Football. And FOX pulled it before it had a chance to get an mass market following.

I got my fingers crossed for Joss's new show Dollhouse but it's on fox<sigh>

I'm mid way through the Space A&B, wow, this was a great show. But I've got the same sinking feeling I had when watching the DVD's of Firefly, 'there are no more'.:(
